This film is the beginning of true realism in movies, I believe. Peckenpaw's depiction of the effects of gunfire on humans was never shown so graphically before "Wild Bunch". I wouldn't be surprised to learn that the term, "Mexican Standoff", came from this film.
Tarantino and other directors, I'm sure. were influenced by "Bunch". The ending of "Resevoir Dogs" is very similar to this film's ending. It makes my top 20 film list. See it and the accompanying documentary on it's making. An important film. |
