Wow. That's all I can really say. Luc Besson has really delivered with Leon the Professional. Brilliant performances by Gary Oldman, Jean Reno, and a young Natalie Portman combine with the excellent feel and cinematography to make an excellent film. The movie is a nice balance between style, emotion, and content. **The Plot** The plot revolves around a mafia hitman (Jean Reno) named Leon, and a young girl named Mathilda (Portman). Mathilda's family is murdered by a psychotic DEA agent (Oldman) who has a nasty mental condition and a bad drug habit. The sole survivor of the slaughter is young Mathilda, who seeks refuge in Leon's apartment. Leon and Mathilda eventually come to love one another, and in a rather odd turn of events, Mathilda persuades Leon to teach her his trade. **Sounds** The soundtrack is amazing, it does a really good job of complimenting the film. It is emotionally moving, without being overly sappy. I don't usually take any notice in the background music whenever I watch films but in Leon it just hits you and you really got to admire it. Yes! It is that damn good. **Acting** Oldman is spookily good at playing a cheerful psychopath, who sees death as a whimsical thing. Reno is similarly suited to his role, as he is the perfect low key yet stylish mafia button man with a heart. Portman in a breakthrough performance, shows great acting ability and fits into her role (as Mathilda) perfectly. **Recommend** Would I? Hell Yeah! Note: Watch the uncut version. The DVD version is better than the original version. It let's you see more deeply into the relationship between Leon and Matilda, and you get to see more of the "training" scenes, which show how Matilda develops from an unknowing child to a novice cleaner. It's 24 minutes extra I think, which was left out when released in the U.S.
