This first entry in a hilarious series tells a story of a day about lives of two store clerks and what they have to put up with every day. Dante is a convenience store clerk and Randal works at the video store next door. It also introduces us to Jay and Silent Bob, two legendary drug dealing characters.
This is, without a doubt, the best in the series. Many think it is Chasing Amy, but Clerks is very original and funny.
The acting from everyone is good. I'd have to say that the best comes from O'Halloran, but Anderson is the funniest. The movie was filmed in black and white because this film was on a low budget. I have no problem with that.
This is also Kevin Smith's first film. He would go on to direct and star in Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma, and Jay and Silent Bob Strike back.
If you have seen Mallrats, Chasing Amy, and/or Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back and do not understand some of the jokes, see this movie to understand them. Clerks is an instant classic that I, and maybe you, will never forget.
