A chilling tale about a New Zealand schoolgirl Pauline (Melanie Lynskey) who finds a wonderful new friend in Juliet (Kate Winslet). The two girls become instant pals, creating a fantasy land and writing a novel together. As their friendship becomes more intense in the morally strict 1950's, their parents become concerned and threaten to tear them apart. Unable to face separation, the girls plot an unthinkable crime.
This film is beautifully done, with amazing special effects and visuals. The performances by the entire cast, especially Lynskey and Winslet, are phenomenal.
After I watched this movie I could not get it out of my head. It is absolutely unforgettable. |
