Great fighting !

Once upon ... is a great martial arts movie,with fierce dogfighting and a couple of ropes used here and there without spoiling the fun. The plot is somehow confuse and the enemies are almost caricatural in their bad acting. The movie is set in one of the most important period for China, a time full of turmoil and fighting against the foreigners who established almost unchallenged areas of power inside the country. Once again this freedom fight looks to simplistic and the plot have the tendency - nothing new around the world - to present China in a victim posture. Yes, she is here, but let`s not forget that Imperial China was established in the same way while invading neighbouring countries. |
