Typical Hollywood Fluff
by The kid-8 (movies profile)
Mar 9, 2008
I would have to say that this movie, as is typical of many Hollywood films, glossed over a serious problem and of course, in the course of 2 hours, everyone was better and lived happily ever after.
Alice has been a drinker since she was 9. She is a serious alcoholic. But yet, the detox part gets glossed over and in a total of 2 scenes and 10 minutes, she is suddenly cured.
Once she returned home from Detox, the film never once showed her struggling to maintain her sobriety. Suddenly, the film changed directions. It went from being a film about an alcoholic to a film about a marriage that is crumbling apart.
This film was 2 movies in one. The first hour was similiar to Clean & Sober. The second half was similar to The Story of Us. |
