What happened to the real ending?

The book was terrific and the ending kept me in suspense every moment. Grisham tied all the ends together and gave a reason for Mitch's brother Ray to be in the plot.
How Mitch outsmarts the FBI and the Mafia is a main point of the novel but the movie doesn't keep the ending at all. There is no point for Ray to be included and Mitch can go on being an attorney where in the book he has a different decision to make.
Cruise and Gene Hackman did excellent jobs with their acting but were hampered by the changed ending. |
