Rarely does a movie exceed the book upon which it is based. This is no exception; however, the movie stands alone as an extraordinary accomplishment. The adaptation is somewhat different from the book, but it stands alone as a credible and very exciting story. Acting is excellent. This is Tom Cruise at his best, and Gene Hackman is a master of the lovable badguy. I had not watched this movie for at least ten years, and I was amazed at how it captured my interest and held my attention for its entire 2.5 hours. |
