This was Al pacino's best performance, and his only academy award. He did an incredible job as Frank Slade, very believable as a blind, pissed off and retired clonel. Although I think that many of Frank Slade's characteristics such as: the raw urgency in his voice, the BIG eyes moving around, and the sudden yelling are actually Al pacino's characteristics. As they are evident in his other movies. But over all, very well done. The acting of Chris O'donnelle, again nicely done. Good protrayal of the character, but if you see his other movies.... you'll know what I mean. (He's kind of the same in every movie) but played the polite, poor, scholarship and hard working student very well.

The Story line is unique. I think a little bit more information about Frank's past and more reasons that could define his actions would have been better.

The Direction (Martin Brest) is fair. I say fair, because there are moments in the movie (the Oak room) where camera change could be faster (less boring that way) but there were times like when frank wants to kill himself, where the frame size and the Dekopaz, are flawless.

Very good movie over all..... Difinitely in my top 10 list (but I'm no critique so judge for yourself) I dont recommend this to people who like a movie like deuce bigallow.
