This version of the clasic story casts of the shackles of old Hammer-horrors and gets back to Bram Stoker's original story. As far as acting goes Gary OLdman and Anthony Hopkins steal the show, but Keanu and Winona provide endearing roles as the innocent lovers corrupted by dark forces. The accents presented by Keanu and Winona are particularly suspicious, but add humour to this lengthy film. Watch out also for tacky scene changes, fountains of blood for no apparent reason and Dracula crawling about like a wolf! All these help to break the tension which would otherwise stifle the viewer. |
