I would say this movie was very realistic. It was believable, but that isn't always a good thing in a movie. It was too much like real life for me. For most of the movie, we are watching people walk around, drive around, ride on ferries, and so forth. For all the time we see the girls family, we never really feel we know them at all. Especially the younger brother. They were supposed to have this great relationship that was never really shown. There were other problems, like the scene in Chinese with no subtitles (I hate that). There is no way in hell this movie deserves an A or an A+. I'm being generous with the C+.
That said, the sex scenes were very good, some of the best I've seen in a long time. You could feel exactly what both lovers were feeling. SPOILER: Unfortunately at the end of the journey, the two lovers are seperated, never to see each other again. You can see this coming, it's forshadowed over and over. The problem is that it is stretched out and stretched out. You really feel the pain of the characters. If you like that, fine. I see a movie to make me feel better, not depressed. |
