nothing so honest as this

people seem to overlook the glaring honesty that cameron crowe strives to instill in this film. it's as though an entire generation and culture are frozen in one of those snowflake and water contraptions that you can shake and watch again and again. the performances of the all star cast are raw and inspired, with constant moments of brilliance interspersed in the dialogue. example? see Jeremy Piven as a college dropout grocery checkout guy. There is something special about a film that can create an atmosphere of people and setting so endearing that you find yourself sympathetic with their every woe and want. Campbell Scott drives this film with an award worthy performance that begs consideration of a film as a whole that breaks new ground and yet feels as comfortable as your favorite novel. This is something to keep in the library and remind you of how it was to be young and hopeful. A beautiful film. |
