This is one of the best dark comedies I've ever seen.It's starts with a bang.Meryl Streep's
what-do-I-see? song at the beggining is great.
And then the way Bruce Willis says to Goldie Hawn
"She's sensational!" and Goldie Hawn gives him a look.Meanwhile everybody else in the theater is either leaving or asleep.
Women may be vane.But Hollywood actress Madeline Ashton("Mad!") and her old friend Helen Sharp("Hel!")are gonna go...a little off the deep end.
"Good Morning Madam" Rose whispers to Madeline "you look absolutely marvelous."
"Wait!" Madeline says waking up "aren't you forgetting something?"
"But it's only Thursday.You told me---"
"Never mind.I think I need to hear it every morning."
"Very well." Pause "Oh Madam, you look younger everyday!"
"Thank you Rose" she says with a dramatic inflection in her voice."Thank you very much!"
Next comes the invitation to Helen Sharp's book party. "Helen Sharp's book party!" she sings "Forever Young?"
Rose turns "I like that title!"
Madeline is laughing "Forever young, right.And eternally fat!"
In the car Ernest is wheezing. "Could you just not breathe?" says Madeline.
Bruce Willis is incredible as the wimp.I was really impressed.
A little later on.The two women are alone after being fixed by Ernest.Then the paint start pealing.
"Can Ernest fix this?" Helen cries
"Yeah I'll go get him before he leaves."
"Wait a minute!What if this happens again!What if it chips! what if it fades!What if it rains!
We'll he be back for touch up's?"
"Even so he's not gonna live forever!"
"Oh!That's not good!"
Well what are we gonna do?" Pause "He'll have to take the potion!"
"Yeah.We'll take him to Lisle's,she'll talk him into it!"
"Wait!He's not going to wanna go to Lisle's.You've heared him!He's made up his mind about leaving!"
"You're right," Helen says "we have to respect that!" Then a loud gasp "I know! We'll drug him"! |
