I think that many of you have seen lots of new age action - pact war movies. Well, saddly to say, those are only money making movies that don't portray the true horrors of war. Grave of the Fireflies however, made in 1988 (and it doesnt seem that way with the DVD, great quality), was inspired from a book written in japan about a boy and his sister living through the horrors of WWII. The things the two children go through during this war moved many people to the point of tears, including Roger Ebert, the famous movie critic. Now if that doesnt convince you, i suggest you check it out for yourself and find out, but I have to warn you, this movie is NOT for children, and is a serious emotional movie that musn't be taken lightly. Trus me, you've been warned. |
