OK, I admit inside jokes in movie's are my favorites and this is one of the BEST EVER!
But this movie has serious HEART and lasting power. It is one of those I just can't help but watch every time I run across it on cable. MJF at his best and with a bit of sarcasm and cynicism to start that gets eroded away over time. A first rate ensemble cast with some greats like Frances Sternhagen thrown in. Julie Warner is perfect and the characters are well done without turning into characterizations.
I admit it melts a hard-heart like me to see real small town living and neighbors who still care for each other in a movie. LA is also very accurately portrayed IMO.
Great movie with a little bit of everything thrown in that just works! |
