Over the past 55 years I have practically seen every western/cowboy movie ever made and released, to include the TV only type. I declare myself somewhat of a backseat expert on the west and western movies.
Lonesome Dove ranks within the top three westerns ever put on the screen. It has everything you could ask for in any movie, it has adventure, love, humor, compassion, courage, sadness and revenge.
Two veteran fine actors play the lead with a great supporting cast. Even young Rick Schroder did a decent job in this one. Too bad they could have not added Tom Selleck and Sam Eliot to the cast. They would have been the cherries on top
of the cake. What a movie !! |
