I knew Awakenings was a critically acclaimed film, and with the average user rating on Yahoo very high, I knew that it was also liked by non-critics.
When the movie began, I was overtaken by the performance of Robin Williams (Nominated Golden Globe- Best Actor) who does an amazing job as Dr. Sayer, a doctor who isn't afraid to make discoveries, or, lets put it this way, he's not afraid to experiment.
When De Niro's character is introduced, I noticed that just the placement of his hands in his lap, in a certain way, added to his performance, even if he wasn't moving or speaking.
Throughout the movie, the performances of Williams and De Niro just keep getting better and better. I recommend this movie strongly. It is a stunning and toughing experience. |
