Amazing, really.

I went to the video store Monday looking for a movie to watch. I remember reading about DREAMS a few months ago browsing through Yahoo Movies and I made a mental note that this film seemed interesting.
Anyway...
When I got to the video store, I couldn’t find the film I wanted to rent, so I rented DREAMS, hoping it would be worth the while. I put the film in and instantly understood that this movie was totally unique. It was surreal and strange, it dragged, but I came to understand that you can’t watch this film as a movie, but rather, you have to watch it as a dream... with your subconscious. I’ve been interested in dreams for a very long time, reading what little information I had regarding them. That interest recently exploded when I rented the movie. I busted out my dream dictionary and began interpreting all the symbols that were presented in the film. That is the real genius of the film, if you don’t understand your dreams and what they mean psychologically, it’s very easy to disregard this film as mediocre artsy fartsy crap. But it’s actually very intelligent and creative and has tremendous artistic value, and meaning as a dream.
I recommend this film to anyone interested in his or her own subconscious, and interested in dreams. And for the less psychological movie watcher, it also has surface value. It talks about life and death, and prophetically teaches you about the nature of life its self. Gives you insight into the dangers of war and nuclear power, and makes some sense out of the many nonsensical kinds of dreams we as humans tend to have and forget. A masterpiece: WATCH THIS MOVIE! |
