This movie, made in 1966, with a superb cast, fabulous writing, brilliant acting, (especially Henry Fonda and Burgess Meredith (one of the best actors never to win an Oscar) is clearly and most definitively the BEST POKER MOVIE EVER MADE!!!
The next best poker movie is the Cincinnati Kid but only because of standout performances by Karl Malden and EG Robinson.
Rounders, Maverick and any others- although quite entertaining- fall well below the mark of these two above.
This movies also ranks high as a sports movie as well. (for those of you , like myself, who believe poker is a sport) |
