Ever see the Labyrinth? Thought that was the worst movie ever? This one may just tie that demonstration of evil-on-film with the horrible acting, terrible music, absurd plot, and did I mention the terrible acting? Matthew Modine is unbelievable (and not in a good way) as a nobleman's son who loses a gamble to Faye Dunaway, playing a German countess. He romps through Europe having sex with innumerable women, accompanied by Jennifer Beals in a role that makes me question her talent. Everyone has to start somewhere, however, and I suspect the problem here was casting. Having completely passed over the idea of using accents--not that any of these actors were truly capable of such a feat in this film--the entire production is silly, poorly done, and badly acted. My head still hurts from the experience! If you ever feel compelled to torment an enemy, make them watch this movie in its entirety! |
