Hardy Boys go to Canterbury
by TOM (movies profile) Feb 28, 2008
A trite little sub plot about good intentions to preserve Anglo traditions and society dominates the first boring hour and a half. It serves to introuduce the viewer to the weird Anglo values.

Finally the modern Pilgrims begin their travel to Canterbury and the real strength of the film is revealed as the Anglos, bombed and battered in a vicious war, show their true grit and spirit of hope and recovery. Children's faces grim and serious reflect the toll of war and the strength of the Anglo people's resolve.

Canterbury serves as the icon of Anglo values and traditions in the movie where blessings and penance are bestowed on her people. It's a melodramtic tale that captures the deserved sentimentality of the times.
