The title of my review sums it all together: this film is about the magic of cinema and the romance of Italy, two powerful themes. This is not just a love story, it is a story of loyalty and strength...and also love. The story is beautifully told by director Giuseppe Tornatore, the acting is subtly but well done and the music sweeps you away into the romantic story...romantic in the classic meaning of the word. This film is one of my favorites, beautifully capturing the power of the cinema and it's effect on how we live and have lived for almost a century...and it is so well done.
This film truly is a masterpiece. |
