As an ex-career military man (twenty years as a field-grade officer; never a bureaucrat!), I can attest that this film vividly and accurately portrays the insidious inner-workings of military decision-making. When ambition, military objectives, and personal ambition at the top intersect, the result is too-often what the film expresses--at the expense of those who are powerless in the process!
The acting is superb overall, but it may well be the crowning achievement in Kirk Douglass's glittering career! |
