barely a movie, but funny in a sad, campy way.

i watched this movie a few years ago with friends in college. the first time we watched it all the way through. it dragged and dragged, especially (and i say this with a heavy heart) in the portions where the mostly nude women were dancing.
there are humorous errors, like how while driving in their car its apparently daytime, then upon closeups of them inside the car its night. repeatedly. no time-lapse, just bad editing. and the gold that one woman is "bathed in" is obviously yellow poker chips. things like that.
the acting is subpar and the storyline ridiculous, but we actually found ourselves fast forwarding through all of the dancing women (who half the time would be dancing, and the camera would pan away and then back to them, and they were suddenly wearing only undies)to get to that storyline and the dialougue within.
some of the lines were just hilarious, especially as that was not their intended purpose. i personally loved the "torture her, torture her, it pleasures me!" line that the man in charge screams out at one point, as his underlings whip or beat the woman. it was just so hilarious.
campy fun, but not a serious movie at all. and if the company is mixed, you might be wary of the nudity. which goes on and on and freaking on. but its okay.
id wait a few years inbetween showings, tho. |
