Based on Dashiel Hammet's fine books "Red Harvest" and "The Glass Key", Yojimbo has only Kurosawa's tendency to over-lengthen to keep from being really outstanding. It's still pretty good, though, with plenty of action, comedy, a very fine performance by Mifune in a role that calls for physical and emotional acting beyond about any I've seen. Well worth a rental. |
