Most of this movie reminded me of the 90's sitcom Seinfeld; what would happen if Jerry and Elaine stared in a movie. The film tells the 147 month story of Harry and Sally, two friends who went to the University of Chicago and eventually live in New York. I could say more, but that would ruin the jokes and stories which go along with this plot.
It's certainly watchable, but I'm sure it was funnier and more groundbreaking in pre-Seinfeld 1989. You'll be thinking about your favorite New York apartment based sitcoms about thirtysomethings dating different people everytime they turn around, such as Seinfeld, Friends, or one of those other pre-reality tv sitcoms on NBC, while watching this.
If you liked the above shows, then take the time to see this movie. If you didn't, then find something else to see. It's that simple. |
