Peter Bogdonavich's sendup of wacky screwball comdedies of the 30's is perfectly realized here, AND he struck comic gold with the hilarious pairing of Streisand/O'Neal. Their chemistry is excellent, and Miss Streisand has never looked lovlier with her long blond mane and deep California Malibu tan. This movie is silly, zany, and VERY English inspired with the closing of one door and opening of another to reveal what's going on...but...this is not all you get! May the introduction of one Madeline Kahn be known forever as the character of EUNICE! The frigid fiance of Howard Bannister (O'Neal) Kahn just about pulls the rug out from everybody and steals the picture as the uptight Eunice Burns. "What on earth are you doing with Howard Bannister's rocks?" is only one of the dozens of inspired lines from this movie. The big chase scene in San Fran's Chinatown is a hoot! Don't miss this funny, terrific comedy! They REALLY don't make 'em like this anymore!
