I've been an avid Hitchcock follower since my early teens and as I've watched his films thoughout the years my "favorite" has changed. "Spellbound" was for long my number one; then "The Birds". Many have been UP THERE, but when "Vertigo" came into my life it has stayed as my Number One Favorite Hitchcock movie since then. That's why I award it with a deserved Oscar. It IS Hitchcock's Masterpiece and he SHOULD have gotten an Oscar, and in my ratings I gave it to him also. Bravo, Maestro! I'm biased, I'm blatantly partial towards "Vertigo". It's Stewart's and Novak's BEST work (I give them Oscars too), one of Herrmann's BEST scores (Oscar!) and the visuals are groundbreaking (Oscar!). The restoration deserves all the awards available, and the DVD packaging is also award worthy, specially because of the European censorship alternate ending. OSCAR! |
