This movie tried so hard, so terribly hard! In the post-Annie Hall world of NYC, along came "An Unmarried Woman". Expressionist art, self-absorbtion, L.L. Bean Catalogues, loft apartments, trendy bars, Tempura shrimp, men are all bastards, a lesbian therapist..... this movie literally grabs the viewer and shoves upper middle class NYC culture down their throats. It was like "Looking for Mr. Goodbar Reads The New Yorker Too". This movie will always remain on my least favorite movie list. |
