A person that truly understands the importance and greatness of this movie had to be there when this movie was made and released. Sure, the visuals by today's standards pale in comparison, but if it were not for this movie we would not be where we are today in digital imaging and CGI. The makers of Toy Story admitted that their inspiration for a totally CGI movie came from watching Tron. This movie was unlike anything made before it and it set the standard by which these types of movies would be made for the next twenty years. I think the acting and direction in Tron were as good as they could be for this type of movie at the time. These people were starting a new era in movies as far as visual effects go. This fact brings to mind that the cast and crew were breaking new ground. That made every other aspect of this movie difficult to achieve. That is why I give the acting and directing high grades. The cast and crew were brave enough to direct and star in something that was totally new to everyone. That makes it great.
Like the old saying says: "The first time ain't the greatest."
To me it is the most important. |
