John Huston was at his best depicting challenged men. Treasure gave him the perfect framework, challenges by of nature's elements, equipment, outlaws, members of one's own group, and man's internal apparatus. The cast is perfection, Bogart at his very best, Huston's father Walter, a long time Hollywood veteran, and Tim Holt who does a fine job as the relative innocent who learns something about life and men. Beautiful, stark, unpredictable, very realistic and scripted wonderfully. A great film |
