If you're looking for a dark, sinister Hitchcock plot with a surprise ending, this isn't the Hitchcock movie for you. However, Grant and Kelly are utterly charming, and Hitchcock keeps the pacing brisk. There are some weaknesses--a few plot holes and Cary Grant isn't entirely believable as a former freedom fighter. But the overall effect of the movie is memorable and I get a smile on my face just thinking about it. My wife I will watch it again on TCM tonight. |
