1984. Brave New World...etc etc...
All of the anti-utopian critical/cynical novels and movies are similar but this one stands out for simplicity, unlike a clockwork orange or even 1984 where entire new language and countries were manifested this was so simple, one singular civilization/city and technology ran amuck.
I just found Lucas's visuals stunning and the symbolism of the black man being a hologram is hilarious yet insightful, let alone the take on God and technology.
The police officers who speak politely while using violence, endless drugs induced into people, Donald P. doing his thing, this movie is awesome because its retro yet futuristic at same time, by far my favorite anti-utopian movie. |
