Mitchum's baby
by James G (movies profile)
Jul 6, 2008
Robert Mitchum provided the storyline, the music, acted and produced this film, and when Elvis raised his price, Mitchum threw in his 18 year old son, Jim. Despite the devotion, the film is nonetheless a B movie with cheap sets, bad accents, a trite plot, and a sure ending. Top it off with an unusual reverence for the federal government, and you don't get much of a film. Mitchum fans, for sure, will enjoy it, but apart from 90 minutes with Bob, and some great songs from Keely Smith, there's not much else there. Historically, it's interesting to note that this is Gene Barry's last film before entering TV history as Bat Masterson. |
