Insanely evocative, this seamlessly directed interpretation of Macbeth goes to the very heart of Shakespeare's classic tragedy and graces it with Kurosawa's spare and haunting eloquence. I first saw this film when I was 11-years old and some 40 years later, nearly every frame is still crisp and fresh in my mind.
