A sad story, but a great movie

The story was good, but what really makes this movie shine is the visual image you get of the Depression and the amazing acting. Jane Fonda is amazing in her role (she was nominated for Best Actress), and so is Gig Young, the manipulative manager of the contest (nominated for and won Best Supporting Actor). Sarrazin as Fonda's partner in the dance marathon is reasonably good. If you're looking for a light movie, obviously this one isn't for you. But if you're looking for a good movie, I suggest you rent it! |
