I think the under-rating of this movie has occurred because everyone was expecting it to be just like part 1 - a serious horror movie, but that's not what this is. This movie is a horror comedy like Evil Dead part 2. What makes it really great is it achieves both - horror AND comedy. When I show it to friends - and there have been many showing - the room is filled with riotous laughter interrupted by screams of shock and revulsion. Just a few examples - the show starts out at the TExas Chili Cookoff where once again, our heroes win the prize for the best chili. Our hero - Dad of the family - explains his secret is that he has an "eye for meat". I guess so - haha - yuck! Then someone there eating the chili spits out something (clearly a human incisor) and when asked what it is he says "that's just one of them ole hard peppercorns!" (hahaha...ewwww!!) Anyways, later, the guy at the radio station, "Bubba's got a girlfriend", and all that ... well hey - if you like horror spoofs you'll TCM2! |
