I actually saw this movie in the theater when I was eleven years old. I liked this movie back then. However, I was eleven, and I really like Superman movies. Reality set in a few years ago when I watched this movie on TV for the first time in forever. This movie was poorly made, period. I thought that the acting was adequate, but that is the only redeeming value of this movie. Don't get me wrong, this movie could have been better if Golan-Globus hadn't spent most of the budget on their other horrible movies. The movie was poorly edited. Some scenes were just out of place, and it was obvious. The worst part of this movie was a scene involving Mariel Hemingway actually breathing in space with no helmet or oxygen tank in sight. The visual effects were bad, and you can tell that many shots are reused from past Superman movies. This movie was supposed to be longer with additional footage. However, poor test audience results caused the film to be cut drastically, and with horrible consequences. Who knows, if the cut footage was restored, maybe the film would be better. At least the editing wouldn't be so bad. |
