Films don't get much better than this! With the vivacious paring of Vivien Leigh and Marlon Brando never has the screen sizzled with more friction, undercurrent, sexual tension, lust, and yes...desire. Leigh's acting is sublime. She IS Blanche DuBois. Brando burst through the dry wooden acting of yesteryear with his brazen, mumbling, smouldering portrayal of Stanley Kowalski, arguably the finest acting ever given in film without being honored with an Oscar...oh the hell with it...it is the BEST MALE PERFORMANCE EVER COMITTED TO CELLULOID! Everyone else won Oscars, Kim Hunter as STELAAA!!!! and Karl Malden as Mitch, and they were...just fine. However, Brando and Leigh steal the picture. Hot hot hot New Orleans never felt or looked so decadent. Do yourself a favor...run to the nearest film store, plunk down $12.99 and OWN this classic for all ages. Two hundred years from now this film will STILL thrill its audiences. |
