Stand and Deliver deliver's beautiful
by Greg Linsun (movies profile)
Apr 6, 2009
In a rough high school, a bold teacher arose. His name was Jaime Escalante. He did not give up and is now one of the most respectable teachers in the system. Stand and Deliver tells his powerful story of entering Garfield High School and slowly transforming a group of low-life seniors into respectable math wizzes. Stand and Deliver delivers thanks to the powerful performance of Edward James Olmos as the witty, inspirational, and wild Jaime Escalante. Several actors in the class stand out beautifully and give terrific performances (ex: Lou Diamond Phillips as the equally rough Angel Guzman), if there's one complaint its only that it appears somewhat like a made-for-tv movie. Nevertheless, Stand and Deliver delivers on so many levels that begs it to be watched. |
