"Stand and Deliver" was an exceptional film for viewing today at my school, since every student is having state testing. It is a little bit saddening to see that there are such schools out there, like the one in the movie, are the place for such violence and with students that are not exactly "overachievers". About half or more of the students at my school can relate to being only in the basic or regular education level (but minus the social violence and other bad influencial actions). There's also a racism issue in this movie and it stands out to really gets the viewer's attention about how it's unjust.
"Stand and Deliver" is a great movie for teachers to show to their students because it's about the fact that everyone has the potential to achieve only if you put your work and effort towards the goal. A good motivational film to also show when students are about to give up because they might think that the goal is too difficult. |
