GUILTY PLEASURE 101

Since I'm about the same age as the cast, and was 22 when the film came out in 1985, you might think that I'd itentify with these 7 characters, who have just graduated from college and act as if they in the midst of a midlife crisis. Well, fast forward 23 years later, and I STILL don't identify with them. Why? Because no one this age acts looks or talks like these people...they never did, they never have and they never will. So, then, is this movie worth watching? It is for me...call it a guilty pleasure, because some of the situations are sooooo over the top that I cannot help but become involved in their rich privledged whiny lives. And what is going on with the girl's fashion here? All of the young women in this movie have hairstyles and dress like women today who are in their fifties, or running for president. Mare Winningham, in fact, ought to have been arrested and thrown in jail by the fashion police. Simply hideous! But all of this aside, it is a fun movie to watch, nostalgic for me, since it seems to sum up the very essence and excess of the 80's.
