This movie is a true celebration of the human spirit, which is often at odds with government and society around us. Far more than just a "Sword and Sandal" flick common to this period of Hollywood's history; Spartacus has deeper meanings and insights into human nature. Rarely do I recommend a movie over its book, but the visual treat is better than Howard Fast's novel. Historicity involves some conjecture, but this hardly detracts from the movie. |
