"Spartacus" was Stanley Kubrick's first great movie, and it is definitely a great one. It is so superior to movies like "Gladiator." It contains so much originality and meaningful action scenes along with an entertaining storyline and a moving love story. THe movie is longer than it needs to be, but it is still very good. The movie is very strong, but in some areas it isn't excellent. The screenplay is a bit soft, and some of the acting and scenes are a bit cheesy. THe way Kubrich shoots it is very interesting though, and it is still a very fun movie to watch. The historical factor is also lacking though; nothing like this ever happened. |
