One of the greatest movies of all time

While the movie-making technology (lighting, camera techniques, etc) in the 60s was obviously not as advanced as what we have today, that gives The Sound Of Music it's own style, similar to, yet different from today's movies. The difference is, this movie is well made. The quality of film-making shown in this movie has very little competition in today's movie industry.
The screenplay is very well written, allowing all of the main characters to be well developed, but also keeping the story moving. Since this is a musical, the characters spend a lot of time singing, but this is often successfully tied into the story line. Even as a fan of modern hard rock bands, I still enjoyed Rogers & Hammerstein's music, and have found myself humming the songs after watching the movie.
If you count the Lord Of The Rings trilogy as one really long movie, The Sound Of Music makes my top 3 list of greatest movies ever made. |
