Nice piece of 80's D&D Camp
by Stealth (movies profile)
Oct 18, 2009
In the early 1980's, the Dungeons & Dragons role playing game spawned pop culture based on medieval and bronze age fantasy. With that, several big budget movies such as Conan and Excalibur came about to great success at the box office. Like the trashy, knockoff Sci-Fi movies that were spawned from the success of Star Wars, so did this genre.
"Sorceress" is one of the "best of the worst" of this class of early 80's fantasy knockoffs. It has it all, busty babes, bad jokes, bad costumes, bad special effects and most of all, a plot that looks like it was done by a screenwriter that spent a weekend at a comic book store for source material.
Someday, this movie will be compiled into a big DVD box set with the likes of "The Sword and the Sorcerer", "The Barbarian Brothers", "Deathstalker" and "Krull." In the meantime, sit back with a few of your buddies, have a few beers an enjoy this camp. |
