The Ultimate Disrespect For Smokey Fans
by Eric Ryder (movies profile)
May 1, 2007
Some people just never learn until it finally rushes up and slaps them across the face. For example if the sequel to the Smokey and the Bandit movie was bad, do you think they learned their lessons? Well not exactly, they decided to come up with a third part to the movie to make matters worse.Burt Reynolds is a really smart man. He knew when enough is enough. Too bad the producers didn't know that.I guess Jackie Gleason and Jerry Reed were desperate to do this movie, but I think it just for the money. This movie came at a time when the Smokey series had lost its spunk already. It just didn't had any credibilty to it and the worst part is that was a sequel that no one really saw or even care.
The plot follows in traditional Smokey fashion with the Enoses offering a wager to Sheriff Buford T. Justice (Gleason) of a quarter milloin dollars if Justice carries a lage plastic shark from Florida to Texas. If Justice loses, he must give up his badge to retire.Of course those resourceful Enoses set up many trick and traps for Justice and hiring a redneck named Cletus (Reed) to pose as the Bandit since the real one is no where to be seen.
With the sheriff retiring, why would the Enoses want to issue the wager. There's absolutely no point in the story at all.
When watching this movie it was like watching a real-life version of Wacky Races with Sheriff Justice as Dick Dastardly and his retarded son Junior as Muttley.
What pisses me off was the rating for this movie. By rating PG, was very misleading as there are various obscene scenes like Justice getting his groin caught in a fishing hook, Justice screwing around with a drag queen, the Enoses in drag hiding out at a sex club, and Buford and Junior stopping at a nudists convention fixing up their cars.
If you have a chance at seeing this movie then I recommend that you don't waste your time at seeing this one. Trust me you'll thank me for it. |
