Sellers is a rising comedic actor out of England and Blake Edwards was a hot hollywood director. This movie is a classic, slapstick farce! Part Keystone Cops, part Jaques Tati, part Jean-Paul Sartre, Inspector Closseau is one of the ALL TIME great screen clown characters! Sellers had incredible timing, a great comic flair, and the ability to inhabit most characters in a film. Edward's direction really allows for the comedy to unfold in a meandering style. Add a supporting cast of Herbert Lom and George Sanders and how could it miss. After the fourth and fifth efforts of this series, you really begin to miss the old Inspector. By REVENGE OF THE PINK PANTHER you see Sellers in ill health, really running out of steam. But this movie is a real gem. BEST SCENE: Closeau questioning the staff after the initial murder. "Ha, yes I knew that, hmmmm........"
