To me the best of the Rocky movies. This movie gave you more of a reason to care and hate the enemy then any of the previous Rocky movies. We have our beloved Apollo killed in action with Russian amateur sensation Ivan Drago as his wife and many other watch on from the crowd. Then we have the best line ever in a Rocky film...."If he dies, he dies." What could make us hate Drago more. He's Russian, and he has no heart, hmmmm no political agenda on side here? Of course the only way he'll fight Rocky is if he goes to Russia to fight. We proceed to a lengthy training montage (wouldn't be a Rocky movie without a montage) which I dug more then the previous films. Then on to the fight against the indestructable Russian. A very interesting ending with the Russian crowd turning on their own Government essentially. I wonder if there's an alternate Russian ending where Rocky get pummeled into oblivion? |
