I think the ending of Rocky II pretty much sums it up for me in terms of comparing it to the original. Follows pretty much the same pattern, but it's just that much better then Rocky. There's not much new going on throughout. We get a better look at Apollo and the person that he is. The thing that did it for me was the fight. I guess I'm a sucker for an exciting ending, and the decision in the first one didn't do it for me. Yes it was to set up the ending for this film so we'd know that no matter what Rocky did he'd have to knock out Apollo to win the title, but I didn't care. Better ending and Rocky coins one of his pattented catch phrases at the end. |
